Break-even ROAS calculator

Work out how much ad spend your order margin can support. Enter your revenue and non-ad variable costs to calculate a break-even return on ad spend.

Your inputs and assumptions

Use average amounts from the same orders, period, and currency. Every field is required. Enter 0 only when you know a cost is zero. An unknown cost stays blank and prevents a result.

After discounts and refunds, excluding sales tax.

The cost of goods for the same orders.

Shipping, packaging, and fulfillment that you pay.

Payment fees, commissions, and any other non-ad costs per order.

Calculated from your inputs

Amount left for ads per order

Revenue − all non-ad variable costs

Enter revenue.

Contribution margin before ads

Amount left for ads ÷ revenue × 100

Enter revenue.

Break-even ROAS

Revenue ÷ amount left for ads

Enter revenue.

The amount uses your input currency. Results are rounded to six significant digits. This is a scenario from your inputs, not verified campaign evidence or a profit forecast.

How to calculate break-even ROAS

Subtract non-ad variable costs from revenue to find the contribution before ads. Divide revenue by that contribution to find break-even ROAS. For example, revenue of 100 and costs of 60 leave 40 for ads: 100 ÷ 40 = 2.5× ROAS.

These are example inputs, not campaign results. At 2.5×, this example covers its entered variable costs and ad spend. It leaves nothing for fixed costs or profit.

This model excludes fixed overhead and assumes the same revenue and cost mix as your inputs. Revenue after discounts and refunds must match the orders behind your cost averages. Do not count the same cost twice.

Actual attribution, return rates, and repeat purchases can change the result. A competitor ad cannot establish your margin or profit. Confirm your own cost data before you set a budget.
